Is Aditya Chopra unhappy with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar?
Buzz is that the release date of Dibakar Banerjee’s dramatic thriller Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has been pushed several times as producer Aditya Chopra is unhappy with the final edit.
Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, has been stuck in limbo for the longest time. Even though the film was wrapped up over a year ago, it is yet to see the light of day.
The release of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has been delayed twice already and a leading publication reports that it might finally hit the theatres by the end of June. Apparently, the film has not released yet because producer Aditya Chopra is not at all satisfied with the final edit.
“It was a promising script but did not translate well on screen. They were trying to salvage it during the editing, but eventually certain portions have had to be reshot towards the end of last year which is why it’s been in limbo for so long. It was to release before India’s Most Wanted, Arjun’s true-life espionage thriller which is scheduled for May 24, but will arrive only after that,” a source revealed.
However, when the newspaper got in touch with Yash Raj Films, a spokesperson for the production house denied the news. “This is completely untrue, a baseless rumour. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is a different, edgy, multiplex film and it needs to be released accordingly,” the spokesperson said.
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is Arjun and Parineeti’s third collaboration, after Ishaqzaade and Namastey England. While Arjun plays a Haryanvi cop, Parineeti’s character belongs to the corporate world.
Yash Raj Films said in a statement, “Two more unlikely protagonists in one film are unimaginable. They are united in one thing only. Their mistrust, suspicion and hate for each other.”
Director Dibakar Banerjee revealed in a statement, “This feels like my first film, again. I’ve had to unlearn everything I know to tell this story about a man and a woman who can’t stand each other but can’t survive without each other.”
