Eid expected to fall on June 5 according to new lunar calendar: Fawad

Minister for Science and Expertise Fawad Chaudhry has mentioned that in response to the lunar calendar ready by his ministry, Eid is anticipated to fall on June 5.

Chatting with the media on Monday night, Chaudhry mentioned that the calendar has been accomplished and “shall be despatched to the Council of Islamic Ideology on Tuesday [today]”.

In keeping with the minister, the calendar has been ready by means of collaboration between House and Higher Environment Analysis Fee (Suparco), specialists on area and climate specialists. He mentioned that members of the CII in addition to the moon sighting committee have been invited to view the calendar “in order that they perceive the intensive working that was accomplished to compile it”.

A letter from the ministry to the CII, a duplicate of which was obtained by DawnNewsTV, confirmed that the lunar calendar had been despatched to the council to assessment. “You might be requested to accord your opinion in Islamic views,” learn the letter, dated Could 21. “If some clarification is required, a gathering of non secular students and scientists could also be convened, ideally inside 5 days.”

In the meantime, a notification from the Ministry of Non secular Affairs was circulated, calling a gathering of the Central Ruiat-i-Hilal Committee on June four for the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
