How Prince Harry, Meghan failed security bid drags Prince Charles, Camilla
The application of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for police protection in the United Kingdom has uncovered a royal affair that stretches back more than 20 years.
According to royal biographer Omid Scobie, Prince Charles secretly sought police security for Camilla Parker in a tweet.
“THROWBACK: In May 2002, The Guardian carried a report claiming that Prince Charles privately paid for two full-time police protection officers for his then-longterm mistress, Camilla Parker Bowles. A Palace spokesperson called it a ‘private matter’,
he tweeted.
It was claimed in 2002 that the Prince of Wales was paying for two full-time security guards out of his own cash.
Prince Charles’s spokeswoman said: “Whatever the prince is providing is a private matter.”
The tale came to light when the Home Office denied Prince Harry’s request to pay for his own police security while visiting the UK.
