No Increase in Railways’ Fare: Sheikh Rasheed

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Friday (May 17) while speaking to an official meeting said that Pakistan Railways has not increased the fares of trains despite the increase in oil prices in international market. However he said that the fares for AC class are likely to be enhanced after Eid.

During the meeting it was it was informed that Pakistan Railways earned revenue amounting to over twenty-five billion rupees mainly from passenger trains as compared to over twenty-three billion rupees during the corresponding period last year.

The Director General Technical briefed about the fiscal situation of the Pakistan Railways for the first six months of the present government. He said Pakistan Railways earned revenue amounting to Rs. 25,035.711 million (2018-19) mainly from passenger trains as compare to Rs. 23,098.618 million (2017-18) registering an encouraging rising trend of Rs.1,937.093 million.
